Department of Justice Research Program
You might have noticed that this internship has nothing to do with my future career goals (Marketing). If you did notice that, you are right! During my sophomore year, I was introduced to the idea of research. This ended up being something I absolutely fell in love with. I was connected with the Director of Homeland Security Studies at Endicott who I worked closely with for an entire semester. I was tasked with gathering a list of over 100 research articles about the current overdose crisis. The goal of the research was to eventually create a training system for law enforcement officials to understand how to interact with parents/loved ones of those who had overdosed. This project taught me about time management, dedication, and organization. At the end of my research collection, I had to organize and summarize each article. While Criminal Justice is not a current career focus, this internship allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone and explore my newfound love of research.
