The Hidden Opponent

During my freshman year of college, I was diagnosed with a condition called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, a rare condition that impacted the nerves and arteries in my right arm. This made it impossible to play volleyball for nearly a year. My recovery was a mental as well as physical journey. I felt lost without my sport, as if my identity had been taken away. During this time, I was introduced to a nationally recognized nonprofit aimed at mental health advocacy in sports— The Hidden Opponent. Endicott had a newly established chapter of the organization that I have had the honor of being an Executive Board member of since 2023.

In 2025 I was honored by the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) with the AVCA/USMC Battles Won Award, which highlights individuals in the volleyball community who have overcome hardships. Check out the video to the right to learn more about my story.
